DEFINITION OF INDEPENDENCEBY TOMASZ NIEMAS

The Independence (Lat. independentia) of a state can be defined as liberty, sovereignty, the state of not being dependent on another, and the formal recognition of the independence by other countries (my own definition).

The term "Liberty" comes from the Latin word libertas, which means "unbounded, unrestricted or released from constraint."

The term "Sovereignty" is derived from the Latin word superanus, which means "supreme or paramount." Sovereignty refers to the power of a state to make and apply its own laws and to control its affairs without the interference of other states. Sovereignty is the supreme power of the state.
